The Silver Screens is a horror game set inside of a cinema. You're a new employee at Starlight Cinemas. Working the night shift, your one and only responsibility is to collect people's belongings that are left inside each cinema screen and place them in lost and found, but there's a catch.

  • Trailer made by Luke Farren - For inquiries, email lukedanielfarren@hotmail.co.uk

Throughout the game, you will have to collect belongings while avoiding a paranormal entity named "The Shadow". It can appear all around you, and makes a distinct noise when it does, so even if you don't immediately see it, you know that it's still there.

The Shadow lurks in the dark but only appears in the light, so the only option to avoid imminent death is to put yourself in the dark where you can't be attacked. It's presence at the cinema is unknown, however as you progress, you shall soon uncover who or what it is and why it wants you.

fun game
(+1)

After playing the first night, I was looking forward to seeing the rest of the game. Nights 2 and 3 were pretty cool and I really enjoyed playing this game in its entirety and seeing how the story unfolded.  Great work beastybevan, hope to see more games from you!

Thanks so much!

A neat little game with a nice hide and seek style horror element thrown in, the premise is nice and it does capture the essence of what a night shift would feel like in a cinema.

In the next upcoming nights maybe there could be something else other than the shadow, something that you have to flash your torch at to make it go away (if both spawned together it would be an unlucky death) , maybe there could be a few more spooks coming from the cinema speakers perhaps maybe throwing a few fake sounds to make you less prepared for the shawdow when it appears, maybe there could also be a few horror images thrown up on the screen so the player could look at it and get caught unaware or writing on the walls to distract the player.

The game over all is a pleasant experience and fun to play, it feels very slenderman like , it will be interesting to see what else gets included in future nights.

Thanks for your great ideas :D

Without saying too much, though, I’ve definitely thought about some of these already, expect to see some new stuff in Night 2 ;)

A great game! Here is a spanish review.

I was just doing my job collecting items and placing them in the lost and found and out of nowhere the lights go dark and I run out of screen one panicking. As I run to the lobby I quickly check my left side and I see a shadow of a person then boom! I get captured. This game really does capture the horrors of working the graveyard shift it was really terrifying working here.

This is a good concept and has an interesting monster that leaves me wanting to know more. having said that, after finishing the first night, I think a few things can be done to improve the experience.

Improvements

  1. If there are multiple nights, it'll be good to reduce the number of rooms to enter OR the number of items, otherwise it'll just take too long for each night and ultimately end up boring the players
  2. The movement speed can be improved. Assuming the monster is stationary, reduced movement speed or lack of running is unnecessary
  3. Lost item to be more visible, though probably it might just be me that can't see properly

Otherwise its a great start and I look forward to more updates in the future.

WOW NICE GAME!

BTW LOOK AT THIS ANOTHER GAME I PLAYED FROM ITCH.IO GUYS ITS SO SCARYYY!

I did a lets play of your game.

I was impressed with the concept and overall look of the game. The idea of having to turn off your flashlight to avoid attack was an interesting inversion of directing light at something to stop it attacking you.

I found that the gameplay was a little bit tedious, but nothing irreparable.

Congratulations on your early release and continuous development. Good luck!

The game was GREAT to play!!! Definitely had some fun with. Just got stuck at collecting the items at Theatre 3. The objective didn't change after collecting all of the items in there. Other than that, GREAT GAME!!!

I liked it - however everytime I felt I was going to jump, I didn't.

(+1)

You did a great job in creating a feeling of dread and the sudden buzzing of the cell phone made me jump out of my seat. I had a lot of fun with this and I look forward to seeing what the other nights will have in store.

Mr. Shadow, you can QUIT with the harassment hahaha What an awesome concept to derive some spookiness from! As I said in the vid, I can only imagine how much more intense Mr. Shadow will be in upcoming nights. And I'm totally game when that update drops! As said by others, some times the game bugs out and will not advance to the next screen. You may have fixed this already, since I was playing a previous version.

Great work!

You are on the most up to date version, I’ll definitely be looking into it, thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it!

I featured this game in my recent video! I like the concept and I especially like how there was little pieces of the lore shown in the newspaper, it made me want to find out more about the story. Unfortunately I wasn't able to finish the game as I couldn't find the last item in Screen room 2, I think it might've bugged out as I checked every single chair multiple times to no avail. I think the monster might be a little too easy to avoid too as he wasn't really scary but more of just a nuisance. Besides that, I thought this was a really cool game, and I'd love to see a more polished version!

Thanks for making me aware, I will definitely be looking into it and fixing it in the next update :)

I was pleasantly surprised by this. It looks and plays pretty nice. I thought it would be a breeze until the lights went out! I like that more nights will be added over time. It’s always appreciated to see real effort being put into games. Well done!

Night 1 was creepy..can't wait for the next nights!

WE HAD A LOT OF FUN!!

It's cool to see that the creator is responding to a lot of the comments here. I played the game in my video from 0:44-8:45, I messed up at first because I read the rules wrong. After that the game was pretty easy to go through, I can't wait for more nights. This one itself gave me a few good frights, especially with the nice atmosphere.

I do like to stay in touch with everyone as much as possible to reassure people that the game’s still being developed :) Thanks for your feedback!

It is indeed interesting game and i was being way to hasty and jumping in to the game XD omg it gets all so dark after first screen and it gets so much harder to do anything when its so dark ^^ this game need some patience and skill, well done and thank you for the game ^^

(+1)

thank you so much for this game kind creator! I enjoyed the atmosphere you created here. Keep it up! I’m excited to see what evolves in the coming nights.

(+1)

This is an amazing atmosphere, had me genuinely terrified while playing at first, great job loved it!

I played this game in My series 'Quick Scares' on Youtube, check it out!

(+1)

Really great idea so far.

(+1)

I really enjoyed finishing Night 1 and dealing with the 'Shadow'. Can't wait to see more on future nights!

(+1)

This was awesome! I never thought how creepy a movie theater would be after hours, so that in itself brought a very erie atmosphere.  And of course the shadow really brought the tension up. Well done dev! Can't wait to see what you add to your game.

(+1)

This game is amazing! Nonstop suspense the whole way through. Very simplistic gameplay that fits perfectly with that suspense. Fantastic job!

(+1)

the sliver screens made it into the movie known as games of terror! also this was pretty neat as I never played a horror in a cinema before good job!

(+1)

Honestly loved the atmosphere! Only thing is it's redundant and will get stale after a while. My suggestion is to have multiple items (not just backpacks because it doesn't make sense...watch my video :> ) I had fun recording this game, made a couple of fun bits/roleplays and jumpscare! (Although I didn't finish through all areas, still had fun!)

(+1)

This was really cool!! It lost a bit of the tension when you got a pattern down to the flashlight but it was still a great moment when the creature pops up right in front of you. I'm super excited to see what happens in night 2!

(+1)

Very very well done! This game raised my heartbeat and made my palms  sweat. The overall vibe that this game has is just amazing. You're alone in the cinema in the middle of the night and yet you really don't feel like you're alone. Really looking forward to playing night 2!

(+1)

This game was epic as hell! I really enjoyed it! I would appreciate it if you could check out my video!

I always really enjoy watching people play and enjoy the game, thanks so much :) I’m so glad people actually think it’s creepy, because when developing, you get so over-exposed that it’s not scary anymore, which was a big worry of mine from the start.
